Cheddleton and Leek Chess Club have the largest club membership numbers in the league and in the area as a whole, with a membership of well over 50 graded players, not to mention ungraded ones. They were formed when Cheddleton and Leek Chess Club's merged together and took their base in Leek, near to St Edwards Middle School, with whom they have very close links. Their large numbers, and arguably a lot of their success, comes from their successful youth policy, which has seen many young players fly up the ranks. Cheddleton are seen by many teams and players as the Manchester United of the NSDCA, the team everyone aspires to be and the team everyone wants to beat. While club nights are a bit ackward being on a Friday night, they always extend the hand of friendship to those who turn up and are happy to offer coaching and guidance.
